This urgent message is to inform the Hondo Valley community that HVPS has had one positive COVID-19 case on our campus and that there are multiple positive cases in our community. We ask that if you or your child are showing signs of illness which can include any combination of fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, body aches, headache, new loss of smell or taste, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, please stay home and out of all public spaces.
Hondo Valley Public schools policy states that if a student has any of these symptoms, they are strongly urged to be tested for COVID-19. If your child tests negative, they may return to school once symptoms improve. If your child tests positive or you choose not to test a student who is symptomatic, they must quarantine for 10 days.
Testing is available at HVPS every Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or at Curative Testing sites in Ruidoso every day. Please go to Curative Testing at https://curative.com/#10.72/33.3101/-105.632 to find a test site and schedule a test.

Hondo Valley Public Schools is on a 2 hour delay today, Friday August 13, 2021. The heavy rain and flash flooding are causing hazardous driving conditions for bus routes. School will begin at 10:00 am and bus drivers will call families to let them know pick-up times.
The Curative Testing Van is at Hondo Schools on Thursdays. Today the van is here from 10-2.

HVPS Families have two options in 2021-2022
1. ON CAMPUS FACE-TO-FACE
• Face Masks will be required for anyone in HVPS School Buildings regardless of vaccination status. This decision is for the protection of our staff and students and reduces the chance of segregation. We will continue to monitor public health orders and community spread to determine if these requirements can be modified in the future.
• No one is required to wear masks outside.
• Practice 6ft Social Distancing to the greatest extent possible.
• Continue with daily cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
2. REMOTE LEARNING WITH EDGENUITY
• HVPS will:
1. Provide Edgenuity Online Curriculum
2. Provide Students with a Chromebook and Hotspot (if needed)
3. Provide after school tutoring (if needed).
• Parents will:
1. Act as their student’s Instructional Coach & work directly with Edgenuity. The Edgenuity program will support students and parents with concept coaches and teachers online.
2. Follow all the HVPS Remote Learning policies, procedures & expectations.
