With the school year wrapping up - We start looking to the next one. A reminder that students that wish to play sports in the 2021-2022 school year will need a physical prior to beginning participation. Well everybody - another basketball season is in the books for Hondo Valley. Great job student-athletes and coaches! We want to congratulate Kate Cooper, Fabian Prudencio, Tommy Lucero and Elijah Montoya for receiving all district recognition. This will conclude our sports seasons this year as we will not participate in track this season, for various reasons. Coach Devine is planning a banquet/awards ceremony - more information on that will be coming soon.

Just a reminder to all of our loyal fans - the basketball games are about the student-athletes, not about your political views. We are required to abide by guidelines put into place in order that the students get to participate - we make these sacrifices for our kids! PLEASE wear your masks, and sit in designated seating at ball games.

Parents: The NMPED and the NM State Legislature are asking schools to implement programs that extend the school year to help mitigate any learning loss created by remote and hybrid learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your child(ren) are bringing home a Learning Loss and Academic Mitigation SURVEY to get PARENTS INPUT on scheduling student academic interventions and tutoring that may impact the SY 2021-22 school calendar. Please complete the survey and have your child(ren) bring it back to school tomorrow Thursday April 15th and your child(ren) will receive a treat for promptly returning the survey! For our Home basketball games - just a reminder, the blue ticket is saving seats for the parents/family of our athletes - however it is NOT an admission pass, all spectators are required to pay the admission cost. This helps us be able to pay the officials. There is a little room for people without tickets, it is at a first come first serve basis, but once we reach that "cushion" number we will not let people without tickets in. Also, please help us follow the guidelines, No spectators are allowed to sit 5 rows behind the team benches, This is clearly marked on the south side of the gym. Please remember to wear your masks, social distance and be good sports. All of our home games are being streamed on the NFHS network.

The Basketball Schedule is up to date on the school website and will be shortly on Maxpreps Girls (Jr High & Varsity) Basketball practice will begin 3/30 The boys will continue on with Football we will play Elida in Hondo at 7pm on Friday 4/2. Admission will be $5 per adult, $3 per student. There will not be concession. We will have a short presentation to retire Michael Candelaria's Football number before the game and a short presentation to recognize our Senior Volletball & Football players at half time. Boys Basketball practice will begin 4/5 Just a reminder to everyone that we still need to follow the COVID guidelines..It is important for our school and athletics programs. Most importantly - we are glad to be able to play! PLEASE DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP - at all of our activities.

The Volleyball team concluded their season on 3/27/21 and the girls will now begin preparations to begin their basketball season. A huge congratulations to Christa Weaver and Kate Cooper for being selected to the All District Volleyball team and to Kate for being selected as the District Player of the Year. We are so proud of our Lady Eagles! The Football team will play Elida on Friday 4/2 in Hondo at 7pm. This will be their last game of the season. We are planning to recognize our fall sports (volleyball & football) senior athletes at the game on Friday night. As we prepare to begin our basketball season - please be watching for the schedule soon to be on the school website and on maxpreps. GO EAGLES!!!
